When I play Grey Talon, my bird often just explodes on nothing because of the Archmothers huge hitbox, especially when compared to the Hidden King’s hitbox

Oh my, it never occured to me it’s the hitbox of the Archmother that causes this. 
I had this happen to me so many times, but I always assumed it was because of my poor manoeuvring.
