I just turned on a game. Game had an update. Went to turn off and get the update. Screen is black, shows the game is in early development. Doesn’t show title screen anymore to play, you know, the intro.
But I can go to swap hero, access esc menu and it shows this:
What the hell is going on???
Restarted pc. Wheel shows loading in black screen. Then the wheel stops. I hear the ticking and ambience noises, but no popping up to play deadlock. Also blank screen for select hero.
Censored for privacy. What the hell is going on???
This is what happens when I esc out and the play briefly appears. The animation is moving in the background as expected when esc menu is up.
I tried restart, it restarted, but still black screen with no title.
What the hell is going on with my game? Where is the character data???

I am Yoshi. Let me try launching it disabled.
It worked just fine when I launched and it said “update available” and I went to turn off game to let the update download.
Launched without. Everything is fine! Now let me try with mods THIS time.

Update: Keyboard input overlay works…
Clearly it is a singular mod that is causing the breaking that the new update does not like.
I’m noticing it seems to keep playing a death sound for something I did not want a death sound for.

Had the same issue. onlly 2 mods installed were movement maps. Using Linux, but I don’t think that matters
Update: A friend of mine is also having the exact same issues I have.
Easy fix w another mod. I had same issue after update but I have a mod called “unstoppable - stop mods breaking”, i just checked for update and updated it and game works again. W mod thats fixed alot of outdated mods for me highly recommend and somehow is always instantaneously updated after updates lmao maybe automated. MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT AT TOP OF LOAD ORDER VIA MOD MANAGER OR RENAME IT pak01_dir.vpk

None of my mods broke with manual installs, and I ahve alot of them, so I’m guessing it’s a problem with your mod manager? Which one are y’all using?

Mod manager was updated. As well as Deadlock game.
I suspect it may be relating to parry sounds. Still doing tests as we speak!
